Cloth Reviews

So far things are going well with cloth! First off, I absolutely LOVE the idea of cloth diapering Liam! They're sooo cute, they're helping the environment and best of all...SAVING MONEY! With my first purchase I tried a few different kinds and each one is really different. I think it's almost like disposables in that you really have to find what diaper best fits your child! So needless to say, we're still trying different kinds. So far we've tried Happy Heiny's with snaps and velco, bum genius with snaps and velcro and also fuzzi bunz with snaps. So far my favorite is the fuzzi bunz with snaps. My reviews so far are this:

I wasn't much of a fan of the bum genius although I have to say I liked the snaps over the velco in this brand! They are pretty fitting though, which is nice because the one thing I don't like with some different brands of cloth diapers are when they're bulky!!

The happy heiny's worked well...I liked both the snaps and velcro. The snaps worked best again...I think it's just nice because I didn't worry they'd come loose or anything. These velcro ones though were better than the bum genius just because they're large tabs and the velco ones are most like disposables! So they're quick and easy for squirmy toddlers ;)

Like I said though the Fuzzi Bunz were my favorite so far! They were very trim to his bum, so his clothes fit well overtop and they were snaps so I didn't worry they might come undone. I plan to try another version of the Fuzzi Bunz...and I'll keep you posted!!

With all 5 of these diapers I used microfiber inserts. All five of these diapers were pocket diapers, and the one bum genius was an all in one...which you don't technically need an insert for, but you can use one if you have a heavy wetter or for over nights! The only problem with the all in ones (AIO) is that they take MUCH longer to dry! So I wasn't a fan of that!! With the other diapers it typically only took one cycle in the dryer...and when/IF it ever stops raining in this lovely state of Washington....I mean NY...I will probably line dry all my diapers and then just air fluff them a bit to soften them up! This will save more money...not having to use my dryer!

Ok so back to the inserts....I have been using all microfiber inserts. However, I've heard AMAZING things about the hemp inserts. So my plan is to also try these!! Apparently they make inserts that are both hemp and microfiber, so I'll be buying a couple of these to try. Liam is quite the wetter and apparently the hemp is really good for that!! I'll keep you posted on that!

I also looked into a diaper sprayer this week!! That seems like GOD's gift to cloth diapering parents!! Basically it's just like the sprayer on your kitchen sink, but it hooks up to the toilet so you can just rinse off the soiled diapers right ino the toilet!! It just doesn't get much easier than that!! So we may need to be getting one of these!! :)

Other than that...we're still working on finding what works best for us! It's all trial and error. Although each diaper is different they all do the job, just some are better or easier than others. I'll keep you posted as we continue...if you have any questions though feel free to ask, I am full of information now on cloth diapers!! lol!

We're TRYING Cloth!!

I'm really excited to do this. I know some of you may think "what on earth is she thinking" but they've really come A LONG ways with cloth diapers these days. I have to say don't knock it until you've at least checked it out! I did A LOT of research on them and what would go into cloth diapering and this is what I've come up with!

  • It doesn't have to be 100% cloth!! For every cloth diaper I use that's one less disposable that I've paid for and one less diaper that's in a land fill some where!!

  • For every child you have, from birth to potty training you spend about $2500 on disposable diapers! If you do cloth instead, it may be an expense at first... i.e each diaper can be anywhere from $15- $20+ so if for each child you said they go through no more than 10 diapers a day...and had enough for 3 days...that's $450 if you did 100% cloth. Not only would you be able to use that diaper on more than one child...because you can buy one size fits all...but you could sell them when you're all done! I've found that these diapers REALLY hold their value!! It's amazing!! So say you spend $450-$500 all in all on these diapers, use them for at least 2 children...that's a savings of $4500 PLUS then you can sell them and from what I've seen you should be able to get at least $9 each diaper depending on their condition! If you keep them in good condition it could be even more!! So say you get at least $9 each...and you're all done diapering so you sell them all...that's $270 BACK...so it only cost you about $230 to cloth diaper two children!! That to me sounds MUCH better than $5K!! Think about what you could do with all that money saved!!

  • Ok so I know there is dirty diapers involved...however...did you know you can buy disposable liners to put in the diapers so when your child poops, you can just throw that in the toilet!?! How easy is that!! Then just wash the diaper! No biggie!!

So I know it's not for everyone...but all I can say is for me, it's TOTALLY worth a try!! I'm sooo game for saving some money!!

I am starting out with just a few diapers to see what brand works best for Liam! We went with 1 bum genius with snaps, 1 bum genius with velco, 1 fuzzi bunz with snaps, 1 happy heinys with snaps and 1 happy heinys with velco! Here's the picture I took of them yesterday...I was sooo excited to get them in the mail!!

They're sooo cute aren't they!! I can't wait to try them...not to mention how soft they are!! OMG I'm jealous Liam's heiny's going to love them :) lol! If you want more information email me...I've done soooo much research I have information coming out my ears! lol. I'll let you know how we make out...my plan is to wash them tomorrow and try this weekend!! We'll see how it goes!! Wish us luck!!! I'd love to put that extra money in my pocket!!!!

NEW Froggie Pool

At the very beginning of spring Walmart had a clearance section and I got VERY lucky to find this really cute frog pool for ONLY $5!!! Liam just LOVED it when we got it out the other day! We filled it with water from the hose, so it was QUITE chilly...but he still got a kick out of playing in it! It has a spot on the side you can attach your hose to and it has a sprinkler in the front of it. It's sooo cute!! Liam just LOVES it!!! Here are some pics of him playing in it!

Oh wow Mom that's sooo cool!!

CHEESE!!!

JUST LOVIN IT!!!
